And I love Alan Moore, but I get the impression that he'd complain about even the most perfect adaptation of one of his works (admittedly, they've all been pretty shoddy so far)

A lot of them have been very shoddy, but I think that the V for Vendetta reaction was amongst the most puzzling, as very clearly the overall message Alan was going for got conveyed in the final product.
