  Twitter seems to be doing _just fine_ at the moment thankyou - hopefully they don't stuff it up.
  
  I'm happy for them to be using it because, as he says, it is an opt-in messaging service. That's fine. What makes internet marketers (generally) a total pain in the arse is that they will more than likely use some sort of follow script which results in my inbox being full of notifications. I want notifications so that I can check people out and possibly reciprocate, but if they are all internet marketers it gets boring very quickly.
  
  I've been able to witness this first hand because I recently set up the @yabble user and within minutes I had about 10 followers. Their script must have found me on the public stream. It is obvious spam because they all unfollowed me a few minutes later. It's just not fun.
  
  If I recall correctly last time the 30 day challenge (the people behind Stompernet, I think) was on, Tumblr blocked them because they were abusing the system. Twitter need to be able to focus on scaling, not blocking abuse.

  It seems you had a much better and well thought out response than I, Duncan. I've worked with a lot of affiliate marketers too (and I've read quite a few ebooks I've liked, too, though none of those I liked were all about traffic generation or other such mumbo jumbo). The affiliate, MLM and network marketers I've worked with, while most of them seem to mean well, have either disappointed or out-right ripped me off. There is a valuable place for affiliate system in the economy of the Internet, but the area is just rife with folks who seem all too willing to part me with my money or resources and give very little back, hence my inherent distrust with his style of marketing.
  
  In fact, racking my brain, the only ebook affiliate marketer guy I can say I really trust, have bought from, and is doing an honest job is Perry Marshall (and a couple of his immediate associates). There's a key difference in the affiliate marketers and ebook authors who are honest like him and those who typically use the type of verbiage that Reese uses... they don't overhype their stuff with outlandish claims. They don't have to. They have a good product or service, and word of mouth moves their sales.

  I really don't understand your problem. I know there is lots of backstabbing in this line of business but I think comparing John Reese success to yours I think most people would prefer to believe someone who does the walk and not the talk.
  
  As for spamming on Twitter, how when it is an opt in service and not like email where you can buy a list and spam to your hearts content.
  
  I would have registered but considered it not worthwhile as there is nothing inspiring on this site. Get some serious success behind you and show you are worth listening to.

  Go suck your bong again - if you've got any brain cell left in that vacant space you might get some pleasurable effect.
  This will be my first and LAST visit or read from here.
  I'm almost disgusted at myself for even bothering to leave this comment.
  But - for any of you who actually know JR, you'll know that these guys here are just running at the mount because they haven't got anything better to do - or the brains to work it out for themselves.

  I think many Internet Marketers fail to understand that the ONLY good traffic comes from the people that you take the TIME and EFFORT to invest creating a quality relationship with by giving them exceptional quality content.
  
  I have been making a full time living online since 1997 and the last few years have seen the IM Community deteriorate into a tight-knit community of so-called Gurus selling hope to the hopeless.
  
  Personally I am sick to death of the latest miracle traffic solution that promises to deliver Digital Nirvana on a silver platter and make me into an instant gazillionaire by this time next Tuesday afternoon.
  
  I think the IM community is getting so bad that these days I am almost ashamed to tell people I am an Internet marketer.
  
  That said, John's first course contained a slew of valuable information that helped me and many others create hundreds of thousands of dollars in extra sales.
  
  I hope people will 'eat the chicken and spit the bones out' In other words, I am certain he will have some great stuff to share in amidst it all!
