They are moving towards the it/enterprise way fo seeing a platform and apps relationship which means more serious apps ahead for users.

Hmm... tried www.new.facebook.com and it just redirected me to www.facebook.com
Maybe they turned it off now?

My thoughts: you play on Stars? :)

It does look a lot neater but I'd rather that your friends status updates are mixed in with the rest of your new feed (your own status withstanding).

The minimalist interface is a big improvement IMO. It should help in attracting older users that don't want to sort through the clutter.

Personally, I like the design. I agree, from a development standpoint initially it's not good for developers. However, I think having more integration points like through the Info tab actually makes it better for developers. The more your app can be visible on profiles the better that is - the profile is the most visited part of Facebook.

Hopefully this will reduce the stupid apps and it would encourage developers to make REAL apps that are useful.

I have just published my thoughts in a post at http://www.profy.com/2008/07/21/facebook-redesi... and it really looks like I find the learning curve to be pretty difficult. It is cleaner but I see the problem in it being too different.

Yip, while I think we're all waving through it, it's much more cleaner and intuitive. So far, a thumbs up.
