The Inquisitr: Plurkair: A Basic, Open Source Desktop Client For Plurk

  • charlieanzman · 1 year ago
Duncan - I tried to download it and it just Plurked ?! (Seriously, no link from the graphic). Speaking of your recent coding, think you should put the GreaseMonkey scripts for Friendfeed in re-runs. Bought a new box over the weekend and until I loaded them up, I was completely lost :)

Fantastic looking piece of coding you got there

Wow I'm impressed Duncan, didn't know you were a code monkey :). So at the moment it's essentially a wap browser emulator. Have you got any plans to develop this further actually using the API, or was this done to show readers how easy it is to create an air app?
  • Duncan Riley · 1 year ago

at the moment I haven't had a serious look at the Plurk API, but eventually it's a space I'd be interested in exploring. Oddly enough I know a lot more about the FriendFeed API so far, so it might be where I start. You are right though on the ease side, once I found the right tools (and I'd add, finding the right tools and knowing what you're looking at is the hardest part) the rest was easy.

hoping to get more in the next release.

    Hey Duncan,

You created the PlurkAIR desktop client app? Nice. If I whine enough, will you create other apps too?
  • Duncan Riley · 1 year ago
    Christian
basic apps like this...no probs. This doesn't call the API, it just renders the mobile client in an AIR app, the difference between the two time wise is huge, so if you have something like plurk/m you want in an AIR app, let me know, now I've done it once I'd reckon I could produce another in less than 15 minutes.
  • SEO · 11 months ago
If that is the case, i will whine a bit more and maybe we can get more apps from Duncan.

    the little Plurk Air window
  • allen099 · 1 year ago
Hey Duncan. Good job on the app. It is very basic and it sits on the desktop, which is nice, but definitely looking forward to more features once the API's are released :-)

  • Outsanity · 1 year ago
I never saw this on FriendFeed unless wasn't posted there. Tho, I never really use Plurk other than with Ping.fm, this is a first for all I know.

You're right about Twitter, Pownce and Jaik being more powerful. Plurkair has got a fair bit of bugs now.
  • Seo Singapore · 1 year ago
I had installed plurkair previously and had encountered many problems. I guess the bugs are solved now but it gave me the creeps.

    Hey Duncan,
Good job !! Plurkair will be a good competitor for twitter in near future. I'm wondering if more features are added up in coming versions. I still need to learn more about AIR. Seems to be a good application. Are there any tutorials available to create AIR applications? If yes, please let me know. I will give it a try.

very catchy tool for the desktop , why cant anyone come up with something for th mac?
The bugs are solved this time ,, they were such a pain earlier.
i had installed it thinking it would be the same as earlier ,, but it works in a totally refined way after the bug removal .
  • Women's Fragrances · 5 months ago
Plukair is a very useful desktop tool. Ithink the bugs are very small in number which we can just ignore.
Guys go for it. Its very helpful and time saving.

The Plurk Air is the first desktop application that I have seen for this still-new social network micro blogging service. And after using it for a couple of minutes, I have to say that is’ getting the job done pretty much comfortably and as expected. I have some other stuff on mind right now and can’t send forth a thorough review about this application, but I will publish a post once I have got some vacant time and spare brain cells to review that application bullet proof.

This innovation is truly impressive. It somewhat gives a whole new definition to Plurk, as well as provides the users more options . This application will surely be appealing to a lot of people.
