WOW I am honored - you keep pumping out this great, well articulated content and you will pass me very soon! :)

Great post - one note, on the sai/vb/rww/go chart, sai has one thing those others don't have - yahoo distribution.

Is anyone going to sleep tonight or are we all just going to be playing with Trends?

Waiting till more people catch on to the fact that Google does *not* include their own sites info! They'll happily give out keyword data for all their competitors, but letting you look at their info, sorry, too close for comfort. Lawsuit waiting to happen and rightfully so!

I checked the front page of Omnidrive: the service is using Google Analytics, so if there was any traffic it would be on this graph.

I think your logic is a little bit flawed.
Google specifically states that individual site level information from Google Analytics isn’t currently used in Trends for Websites. So it isnt directly picking up data like page views. Instead it’s accumulating other indirect data from analytics like hits other websites (with analytics installed) are sending your way to gauge net traffic received by your website.
And oh, it accumulates this anonymous data only if you opt-into its data sharing program.

But, even then I believe that Google Trends will be able to give a more accurate picture than other similar services due to the vast amount of data available exclusively to google.

I did notice that Megite looks a bit trashed in the newly released Firefox 3.0. Not that a browser release would cause traffic to tank. Just wanted to say.

If Google gathers data from Analytics, then they still have to work harder.
My site traffic for instance is 50% undervalued. If we wanted something better than alexa I'm afraid we're not even close ...

Just noticed that megite is not ranking in Google at all? Not really sure why this is, maybe cos it's all syndicated content who knows, perhaps a google quirk but it might explain why G trends now shows 0 data for megite, displaying the not enough data message when searching for megite of G trends... Have I missed something or is this V weird?

Where did Megite go? I only just noticed that its been dropped from Google's index. Does anyone know when this happened or anything else about this?
