The Inquisitr: Indian Muslims refuse Muslim burial for Mumbai terrorists

  • Eli Gray · 1 year ago
Nice broad blanket statement: One leader went as far as to suggest that the militants had “defamed” the Muslim religion. Which most people would agree with.

Why do you agree with that? What percentage of terrorist acts are performed by Muslims? Why do you think that is?

We need more of this. More outburst from Indian Muslims to show that what is happening is not a strike against any particular religion-but on the very basis of humanity. Why are our Indian Muslim actors, leaders, musicians, artists silent? Hasn't the country given them an equal platform as any other citizen to succeed? Why don't they rise today in this hour of crisis and protest. ...what we need more than anything today is a unification of all Indians- especially the Muslims along with the Hindus. I have Muslim friends and they are good individuals. They have to truly stop behaving like minorities and come to the forefront of this situation. Islam doesn't preach violence. No religion can. It is that portion of the Muslim population that is perpetrating such violence across the world that is earning Islam infamy. Where are the good Muslims...we truly need them to unite in one voice today and lash out at these terrorists.

    To Anonymous,

Prominent Indian Muslims are and have been speaking out. Just because it doesn't get covered in the international press doesn't mean it's not happening. You should check out what Shahrukh Khan said about the attacks

I agree that this could be the first openly defiant act against "Islamic terrorism." In the aftermath of the Mumbia terrorist attacks, Muslims are finally standing up for the ethics of their own religion, the tenets of their faith. '

"Most Muslims are not terrorists!" is the cry heard over and over since 9/11. But it's a statement that has been difficult to believe for victims of Islamic terror, and for those who fear becoming future victims. This is especially true when so many Muslim leaders have refused to condemn the terror or even acknowledge the Muslim attackers as terrorists. By their silence, their omissions, they have invited the perception that they, and other Muslims, could be co-conspirators in the terrorism. We do not know each other.

The Ethic Soup blog as an excellent article on the aftermath of the Mumbia attacks and the refusal of India's Muslims to allow the dead Muslim terrorists to be buried in Indian soil at:

"Most Muslims are not terrorists!" is a cry heard over and over since 9/11. Of course, it is true. This is especially true when so many Muslim leadeers have refused to condemn the terror or even acknowledge the Muslim attackers as terrorists. By their silence, their omissioons, they have invited the perception that they, and other Muslims, could be co-conspirators in the terrorism. We do not know each other.
