The Inquisitr: iFail: Will Apple be forced to recall the iPhone 3G?

  • Boredcollegekid · 1 year ago
These new iphones are really starting to remind me of the Xbox 360. Microsoft used cheaper products to save money, and it ended up costing them with the Red Rings of Death. Now we have Apple coming out with a cheaper iPhone and suddenly we have issues with cracked casing, bad 3G, etc. I don't think its a coincidence

I am also using Optus and appear to be suffering similar issues, at least with data connectivity. It's a little disappointing and making me wish I chose Telstra (unless of course the phone is having similar issues with Telstra).

The 2100MHz spectrum Optus uses for 3G actually bounces around a lot more than the 850-900MHz (can't remember which) Telstra uses.

On Optus and EXACTLY the same deal. It's not very entertaining watching the bars go up and down while I'm sitting still, and it happens in urban and remote 3G areas. I need to switch from 3G for data back to 2G whenever I want to make a call.

I have an Iphone on Optus and have the same issues. As it sits there next to me in my home 7k north of the Brisbane CBD it alternates between full 3g, 1 bar of 3g (most of the time) and then roams onto GSM. I love the phone but I can't use it like this. Apple say my phone is faulty so I'll ask Optus to replace it. If they won't I'll just return it under their coverage guarantee.

guys, i started the mactalk thread that is linked in this story.

if you can head over to mactalk, and report your issues there it would be great.

we are encouraging everyone with a suspected issue to call both Apple Au, and their carrier.

It’s disappointing to see that Apple refuse to acknowledge this issue or address it in any way. I can see massive class legal actions from users with faulty IPhones. It is not good enough for Apple to keep producing defective hardware throughout the world. I will never buy another Apple piece of scheizenhausen ever again.

If you want a free, objective way to check the reception in your area BEFORE you lock yourself with a specific carrier, you should really check out “Got Reception?” (http://www.gotreception.com).

The same issue in Russia, carriers: MTS and MegaFon

    Nokia - Full/Part 3G iPhone - 2G only, call drops... ouch!

The new update seems to have helped quite a bit. I still have my battery drained pretty quickly while it is searching for a good signal and when I use the 3G internet. If I turn 3G off and use only Edge it seems to give no problem with draining the battery. I do love the iPhone and it is vastly superior to my previous phone. But overall, considering the cost I am pretty disappointed with Apple's execution of the iPhone and iPhone 3G.

Sometimes there are network drops during a phone call and you call gets disconnected.Has anyone else encountered any such issue or am I just one of those unlucky one.
  • Seifer · 11 months ago
I heard of those problems before.
And besides, honestly, I never really liked iphones.
Because Apple has no history in making mobile phones ..
That's the reason they were selling the 3G so cheap ... to attract more people to buy and increase their fame.
    I guess that failed ..
