To paraphrase the brilliant Ms. Case (she *is* the future): "At this rectangular table, everyone is a different distance away (me: which effects conversations, points of view, perceptions) but on twitter everyone is the same distance away" ... In other words, the shortest distance between two points isn't a straight line, it's curved.

Sitting by you and Rice, Case et al at the iterasi table and just listening, was something i'll remember for some time. Just shutting up and listening to something which you/i have a hard time processing is really the crux of gnomedex. Listen and allow your preconceptions to be crumbled away.

nothing mystic, nothing hooey... simple... the collective is unwise. exceptional individuals are sometimes wise... beyond that, we're screwed as a whole. ;)

This is quite different from mytical notions of collective consciousness -- what we are really talking about is being able to quickly leverage knowledge from all sources.

The "collective wisdom" is available within our own minds -- Carl Jung's Collective Unconscious. But that's not the same as information. True wisdom rejects anything that's not relevant to us here and now. Without the wisdom filter, we would be overwhelmed by the vast amount of information out there. Many of us are.

The only thing that is hindering us are our minds! If we can go beyond the socially accepted norms and let the Internet and Social Media truly be the conduit of our expressionism, we will achieve the true utopia, even if it is only in virtual space!

mystics say there is only one mind, we are all part of it. experiencing this has great value. it gives context for any particular event, helps with understanding relevance, removes the fishbowl effect, provides a measure of what is useful and what is not, and it wins in the end. collective wisdom is wisdom.

our apparent individuality is subsumed in the end.

this is the most reflective post i have ever seen here, a sign of transformation (which can be defined as leaving a lower understanding for a higher) and a necessary step in unfolding the collective consciousness. technology is ourselves pushing ourselves towards collective wisdom, because our inner self knows it is a higher reality.
