You can drive around nearly every city in the world and, if it's your job to drive all day, you'll see someone passed out on the street just about every day. I drive about 50K per year... I see this crap all the time

We're supposed to stop for every bum passed out on the sidewalk? What if the guy is a crazy? He clearly had little respect for himself at the point so how much respect will he have for the Google driver while he's in his drunken stupor? What if he's violent? What if he's on drugs?

What's he supposed to do? Call the authorities? I've done it and they'll laugh at you every time. Here's an experiment for you. Go downtown, find a bum passed out on the sidewalk and then call 911... let me know how that goes.

Dealing with self-destructive people that are intoxicated is a job for the police and they're not interested in dealing with a drunk unless they have to.

Re: Did Google Cross a Moral Line?

??? I don't know what city this was in, but in any urban environment you'll catch people passed out drunk on the street every single day. If they're breathing, move on. Techies need to get out of the suburbs once in a while!

Re: Did Google Cross a Moral Line?

Why are you shocked? He is a driver doing his job not a front row sitter at every mass @ St Peter Basilica in Vatican City. We don't know this driver the method or process he was hired; he wasn't hand selected by the google co-founders. NY Taxi drivers drive by drunken men passed out on the side of the road everyday all day and no one questions their moral values. That being said I am disappointed that he drove by, but by no means am I shock or hold Google responsible.
